What is PRF?

PRF (Platelet-Rich Fibrin) injections are a procedure that uses a patient's own blood to stimulate healing and rejuvenation. It's a more concentrated version of PRP (Platelet-Rich Plasma) and is used to treat various conditions, including facial rejuvenation, under-eye hollows, hair restoration, and scar reduction. PRF injections work by promoting tissue regeneration and collagen production.

How PRF Injections Work

Blood Collection: A small amount of blood is drawn from the patient.

Separation: The blood is then placed in a centrifuge to separate the platelets and fibrin from the rest of the blood.

Concentration: This process results in a concentrated PRF gel, which is then injected into targeted areas.

Injections: PRF is injected into specific areas to stimulate healing and rejuvenation.

Benefits of PRF Injections

  • Facial Rejuvenation:  Can help reduce signs of aging, improve skin texture, and address under-eye hollows and discoloration.

  • Under-Eye Hollows and Discoloration: PRF injections can help to fill in under-eye hollows and reduce the appearance of dark circles.

  • Hair Restoration: Can stimulate hair growth and improve the health and thickness of existing hair.

  • Scar Reduction: PRF can help to improve the appearance of scars by stimulating collagen production and tissue regeneration.

Other Uses

PRF injections are also used for TMJ disorders, facial pain and headaches, dental implant support, and more.

Procedure

The procedure is typically quick (around 30 minutes) and involves a small blood draw, centrifugation, and injection.

Minimal Downtime: Patients can expect minimal downtime, with mild swelling, redness, or bruising at the injection sites.

Aftercare: Patients should follow their healthcare provider's instructions for post-procedure care, which may include avoiding blood-thinning medications and alcohol.

Results: Results may be noticeable within a few weeks to a few months after treatment, and the duration of results can vary but typically lasts several months to a year.

Potential Risks and Side Effects:

Minimal Risk: The risk of complications is generally low, as PRF is derived from the patient's own blood.

Mild Side Effects: Most patients experience only mild swelling or bruising at the injection sites.

Consultation: Dr. Allende offers consultations to determine if PRF injections are appropriate for your specific needs.
